Redefine Church is a church plant that will be based in St. Louis. We are a diverse group of believers passionate about seeing God’s kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven. Our aim is to fill the city with God’s church( his people) and not simply fill a building on Sunday mornings. Life is hard, and people are increasingly disconnected, but you don’t have to walk through life alone. We want to be your family.

We are planting in the historic Lewis Place neighborhood in North St. Louis. This neighborhood is extremely significant as it is home to the Supreme Court case Shelly Vs Kramer. This case ended the discriminatory practice of home covenants, which consisted of legal documents that allowed sellers to refuse to sell to African Americans and other non-white buyers. Lewis Place is adjacent to the Central West End neighborhood, however the demographics of each neighborhood still look vastly different. The dividing line is Delmar Blvd. We believe neighbors who live minutes away from each other should freely worship together and be concerned for one another. We believe families from both neighborhoods should sit at each other's tables and share meals. Because of this, we are an intentionally diverse Church in North St. Louis, and are seeking to continue the work of ending inequality, bringing unity, and redefining St. Louis to reflect the kingdom of God.

We are planting a church because only at the cross are we truly one body and where the earthly distinctions, such as ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, and ideologies, are no longer reasons to divide but are redefined as ways to exhibit the fullness of the glory of God. We are planting a church because only the love of Christ can turn a city known for hatred into a city on a hill, shining the light of Christ. We want to redefine what it means to be the church and as a result, redefine St. Louis.
